Changes to the Appointment SystemMarch 2011 Following an audit on the Surgery appointment system and also in response to the National Patient Satisfaction Survey, the following changes will be made to the appointment system to try and improve access for patients:
All patients will be asked if the appointment requested is something that can be dealt with on a future date (we have appointments for 6 weeks on the system); by a telephone call from the doctor, (many appointments are taken for things that can easily be dealt with over the 'phone e.g. sick notes, repeat prescriptions or advice) or if the problem is urgent necessitating an appointment for the same day.
More book in advance appointments made available.
More staff available to answer the telephone at 8am.
Patients will no longer be asked to ring back at 12pm for an afternoon cancellation. All cancellations will be available immediately.
By making these changes we hope to provide a more efficient service for the patients. Unfortunately we cannot always provide an appointment with a certain doctor at a certain time, but will always try to accommodate the patient's request as much as possible.
Please let the reception team know if you have any other suggestions to improve the service we offer.
