Dr Gethin Jenkins MBBS MRCS LRCP DRCOG
St. Bartholomew’s 1976
Born in Herefordshire of Welsh speaking parents. Educated at local grammar school and the St Bartholomew’s hospital, London where he qualified in 1976. Following a pre-registration job in Exeter he entered G.P vocational training scheme in Northampton. During the scheme he obtained a diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He joined the Earl Shilton practice in 1981 and is on the minor surgery list and obstetrics. His medical interests include osteopathic chiropractic techniques in management of back pain and related joint disorders, for which he was trained with British Association of Manipulative Medicine. He is now the practice lead GP for Practice Based Commissioning and the Patient Participation Group.
Dr Steven Morgan MBBS MRCGP Guys 1982Born in Birmingham, educated at Perse school, Cambridge and qualified MBBS at Guys hospital London in 1982. Following in-house jobs in London, he entered the vocational training scheme in Derby, obtaining membership of the Royal College of Practitioners in 1986.
He joined the practice in 1986.
Dr Colin Moncrieff MBBCh DA MRCGP DRCOG Glasgow 1981Born in Glasgow, educated at Comprehensive school, and graduated from Glasgow medical school in 1983. He then took vocational training in Bath, followed by a year’s anaesthetics, obtaining Diploma of Royal college of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Diploma in Anaesthetics and membership of Royal College of General Practitioners.
He joined the practice in 1988, is on the minor surgery list, obstetric list and the child health surveillance list. He was involved in developing a ‘young person’s’ contraceptive service within the local community, providing family planning services.
Dr Jenny Tura MBChB Leicester 1984Born in Kent, educated at Grammar School, followed by medical training at Leicester University, graduating in 1984. She then produced her own vocational training scheme within the Leicestershire area, including experience an accident and emergency, psychiatry, geriatrics and E.N.T surgery. She joined the practice in 1991 and now works part-time. She has an interest in family planning and regularly fits coils.
Dr William Priestman MBChB (Leicester 1998) MRCP MRCGP Born and grew up in Yorkshire, with medical training at Leicester University, graduating in 1998. After graduating spent 4 years in hospital General Medicine, obtaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians. Then undertook 4 years of specialist training in Nephrology at Derby and Nottingham hospitals, including a year of research at Nottingham University. Entered the Vocational Training Scheme in Leicester, obtaining Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2008. He joined the practice in January 2010.
His medical interests include chronic disease management and specifically cardiovascular disease.
Dr Maxine Cleaver MBBs Newcastle 1998Born in Coventry. Educated at public school in Coventry, followed by medical training at Newcastle-Upon-Tyne University. Graduated in 1998 and worked in Tyneside for a year before returning to Coventry to undertake 3 year vocational training scheme. She joined the practice in 2002, and is on the obstetric list.
Special interests include women’s health, mental health issues, and health promotion.
Dr Unnati Patel MbChB MRCGP DRCOG DFFP Leicester 2001 Born in India, educated in state school in Leicester, and graduated from Leicester University in 2001. Following a year of paediatric training, she joined the Leicester GP vocational training scheme in 2004. She has obtained membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners, holds diplomas in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Family Planning, and has a postgraduate award in the Management of Chronic Kidney Disease.
She joined the practice in 2009 and her current interests include Implanon fitting/removal and teaching medical students as part of the University of Leicester Clinical Skills module.
Dr Richard Lawrence MBChB MRCGP Leicester 2011 Born and educated in Leicestershire. He trained at Sheffield Medical School and worked 2 years in Yorkshire as a junior doctor. He returned in 2008 to start his vocational training in Leicester and now lives locally with his wife Rachael.
He joined the practice in the summer of 2011. Special interests include sexual health, palliative care, chronic disease management and joint injections.
